Horsepower Muscle was on hand during media days at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. With several new and upcoming cars on display, we knew this would be a great show. Needless to say, this year’s show definitely didn’t disappoint. In addition to seeing all the latest and greatest muscle cars, we also got to see a few blasts from the past.

McCormick Place is the largest convention center in the United States. With that much floor space, we knew we would get a chance to see a lot of great cars. This show had a little of everything! Here are some of the great muscle machines from this year’s show.

Ford showed off the refreshed 2018 Ford Mustang. It’s quite eye-catching in bright red with bright aluminum 5-spoke wheels. The front end of the 2018 Mustang sports a new fascia and fenders that frame a lowered hood. The new Mustang will be available with either a 2.3-liter EcoBoost 4-cylinder or a 5.0-liter Coyote V8.

Ford also displayed this awesome 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1. We heard it was to be auctioned or raffled for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. It even displayed a tag on the front bumper with the JDRF logo. However, we also heard it might be a sign of things to come. There are rumors floating around that Ford is to bring back a Mustang from its past and this could be some type of subtle hint. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

The back of the South Hall is always a great place to go exploring. That’s usually where several aftermarket and performance companies display their current lineup. Chicago’s own Nickey Performance showed off these two Chevrolet Camaros. The first is a fifth generation and the second is the current sixth generation. Nickey was famous for creating super Camaros in the 1960s and that tradition carries on today.

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering brought out a couple of their recent creations. The 2017 Lingenfelter Signature Edition Camaro ZL1 is powered by an 800 horsepower 6.2-liter engine with an Edelbrock E-force supercharger and high performance cam. And it could be yours! It’s currently being raffled by the Dream Giveaway Garage. The red Lingenfelter Signature Edition Corvette Z06 is a future raffle for the Dream Giveaway Garage. It’s serial number one and powered by a 6.2-liter LT4 engine with 800 horsepower. The giveaway for this awesome beast starts in April.

Over at Dodge, we had a chance to get up close and personal with the new 2018 Durango SRT. This three-row brute screams road trip. And with 475 horsepower, it can also tow up to 8,600 pounds of anything you want to hitch it up to. Look for the 2018 Durango to hit the streets just in time for Christmas.

Nothing draws attention or a crowd like the new Ford GT. Ford’s new supercar looks fast even when it’s sitting still. This beauty pumps adrenaline through a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that cranks out 647 horsepower. It’s also quite light with a body made from carbon fiber and high-strength subframes forged from aluminum. And with only a few hundred being made, chances are this is the only one you might see for a long time.

Chevrolet just introduced the Redline package for several vehicles in its lineup. This new Camaro Redline features 20-inch black wheels with red accents, fender hashmarks in black with red outline, and black-trimmed mirrors, grille, and taillamps. Although the package doesn’t include any performance equipment, it does give the Camaro a go-fast and aggressive look that’s quite eye-catching. The Redline Camaro will be available from Chevrolet this coming April.

Dodge had just about every Challenger they produce on display. One that caught our eye was this 392 Hemi Scat Pack Shaker model. This Go Green coupe comes standard with a 6.2-liter Hemi engine and six-speed manual transmission. Dodge also showed off the new GT. It’s the first off its kind with all-wheel drive as standard equipment. It’s available now from your Dodge dealer.

Ford displayed this enormous Shelby F-150. This custom truck comes with 18-inch Shelby wheels with BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, custom-tuned suspension, and an engine tuned to 750 horsepower. Shelby plans to build 500 of these and they will be available through a few handpicked Ford dealers. Prices for the Shelby hover around the $100,000 mark.

The Illinois Camaro Club displayed several old and new Camaros over in the South Hall. Two that caught our attention were this 1979 Z28 and this 1989 IROC. Both appeared showroom new and looked really great under the bright lights. These Camaros really bring back memories and take us back in time to when disco music and hair metal were being blasted from 8-tracks and cassettes.

This is probably one of the last times you will see a new Dodge Viper at an auto show. Viper production will soon be winding down after the 2017 model year. However, that didn’t stop Dodge from bringing out this ACR Coupe. This snake is coiled and ready to strike with 645 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque. The ACR comes with a huge rear wing, 19-inch forged aluminum wheels, and a carbon front splitter with kick-up diffusers.

There was so much to see this year at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. For muscle car lovers, there really is something for everyone at the show. It’s also one of the largest auto shows in the country. We had a blast and can’t wait for next year’s show.
