The 2018 Ford Mustang GT and Mustang EcoBoost hit the streets with more horsepower, more torque, and a new secret weapon at its disposal. Ford is ready to lay the smackdown on the competition for 2018.

The 2018 Mustang GT is the fasted GT ever. This speed comes courtesy of a 5.0-liter V8 and 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission cranking out 460 horsepower and 420 foot-pounds of torque. Add the new Drag Strip mode to the mix and you get a GT capable of a 0 to 60 time of less than four seconds.

Ford’s secret weapon on the 2018 Mustang is the new Drag Strip mode. It’s one of five driver-selectable modes available to the driver and was created for all-out acceleration for straight-line driving. According to Ford, the new 10-speed automatic transmission was designed with an all-new electronic control system which controls shift points and ensures the right gear is engaged at the right time.

The EcoBoost Mustang sees a bump in torque. The EcoBoost four-cylinder now generates 350 foot-pounds of torque which is 30 foot-pounds greater than last year. According to Ford, the EcoBoost 4-cylinder in Drag Strip mode with the Performance Package and 10-speed transmission can go from 0 to 60 in less than five seconds.
