2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray VIN #001 Sells For $3 Million

The first retail 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray hammered for $3 million at Barrett-Jackson’s 2020 Scottsdale auction this past weekend. Even better news is the proceeds from the sale of this special Corvette benefit the Detroit Children’s Fund.

It should be no surprise that the winning bidder was none other than Rick Hendrick. Hendrick is a well-known Chevy collector as well as the owner of Hendrick Motorsports and several other companies that bear his name. Hendrick has won several other Barrett-Jackson auctions where the “first” Chevrolet of sorts has come up for auction.

Even though a red Corvette rolled across the auction floor, the actual car that Hendrick will take home is going to be a black-on-black 3LT with every available option. This car is also the first mid-engine Corvette ever produced. What a way to start a new year and a new decade!
