Setting the Pace: The 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car
It should be no surprise the 2021 Chevrolet Corvette has been chosen to pace the 105th running of the Indianapolis 500. The Corvette is no stranger to the track and has paced the race 18 times since 1978.
This Artic White hardtop convertible is the first Corvette pace car convertible to pace the race since 2008. The 2021 Chevrolet Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car features special Indianapolis 500 logos and graphics, a unique stripe package, and special Stingray decals. Inside, the pace car features Sky Cool Gray and Strike Yellow upholstery.
“The Chevrolet team is privileged every time we’re invited to pace the Indianapolis 500,” said Steve Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “We are confident the track-capable Corvette Stingray Convertible will catch every race fan’s eye as it leads the pack toward the Yard of Bricks. From the color scheme, to the special race weekend decals and how the safety lighting is skillfully integrated into the nacelles of the hard-top convertible Corvette’s revolutionary appearance, we’re putting Chevrolet’s best on display for the fans.”
The 2021 Chevrolet Corvette is powered by a 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 with 495 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque when equipped with the performance exhaust system. This powerplant is coupled to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
