Red Alert: Shelby American Unleashes the Shelby GT500 CODE RED

Shelby American revealed its latest creation this past weekend at Detroit’s Woodward Dream Cruise. The Shelby GT500 CODE RED is Shelby’s first limited edition sports car featuring a twin turbo V8.

The Shelby GT500 CODE RED churns out 1,000+ horsepower and 780 lb.-ft. of torque from 93 octane gas. Even more astonishing is this beast can conjure up to 1,300 horsepower and 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque from E85 ethanol.

Based on the 2020-2022 Ford Shelby GT500, the Shelby GT500 CODE RED will be one of Shelby’s most limited edition coupes. Only 10 per model year will be built making this an instant collectable.

“Shelby American has built cutting-edge experimental versions of the Shelby GT500 since the model was launched in 1967,” said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American. “While these testbeds for innovation never became production cars at the time, they helped make our vehicles better. For the first time in our 60-year history, we’re turning an experimental car into a limited-edition vehicle. The enormous demand for a CODE RED edition is an opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities, as well as the enormous potential of Ford Motor Company’s marvelous Shelby GT500 as a dedicated straight-line performer.”

The Shelby GT500 CODE RED features a Shelby carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber rear diffuser, and carbon fiber pedestal wing. This behemoth also features Shelby rocker panels, billet engine caps, and carbon fiber rocker wings. Inside, the CODE RED sports leather seat recovers, a CSM numbered dash plaque, and embroidered floor mats.

This exclusivity comes at a price. The package price MSRP starts at $209,995. And no, this price does not include the base Shelby GT500 itself. Production has begun at Shelby’s Las Vegas facility and those wanting to get the ball rolling on their own Shelby GT500 CODE RED can contact Shelby American.
