Last Call #7: The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170

Dodge’s final Last Call model is the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170. The brand’s special-edition Challenger was revealed this week at the Dodge Last Call Powered by Roadkill Nights Vegas performance festival at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This beast gets the distinction of being the quickest, fastest, and most powerful muscle car on the planet.

So, how fast is the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170? Well, it can sprint from 0 to 60 in a mere 1.66 seconds and run the quarter mile in an NHRA-certified 8.91 seconds at 151.17 miles per hour. These astonishing run times come courtesy of a 6.2-liter high-output supercharged HEMI powerplant. A TorqueFlite 8HP90 eight-speed automatic is the sole transmission offered. This behemoth also pins the driver to the seatback with a G-force acceleration of 2.004 gs, which is the highest of any production car ever.

You’re probably wondering how much power is under the hood. The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 creates 1,025 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 945 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm on E85 gasoline. On E10 gasoline, power decreases to 900 horsepower and 810 lb.-ft. of torque.

“To celebrate the end of the HEMI muscle-car era, we pulled off all the governors to reach a new level, a new benchmark of ‘factory-crazy’ production car performance,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer – Stellantis. “In 2015, Dodge shocked the world with the 707-horsepower Hellcat. Then, in 2018, we did it with the 840-horsepower Demon, and now we are doing it again with the 1,025-horsepower Demon 170, the world’s first sustainable-energy, eight-second, factory-production, street-legal muscle car.”

Production of the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 will commence this summer and will be restricted to approximately 3,300 cars, with 3,000 for the United States and 300 for Canada. However, final production tallies will be based on production capacity.

Existing owners of the original 2018 Challenger SRT Demon who lock in a dealer allocation for the new 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 will also be given the opportunity to match the same VIN as their original Demon when completing their order.

The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 will be available at an MSRP of $96,666, not including destination and other fees. Available dealer allocations for the new Challenger SRT Demon 170 can be checked via the Dodge Horsepower Locator site at DodgeGarage.com, with ordering starting on March 27, 2023. Ordering will cease on May 15, 2023. Dealer orders charged at MSRP will receive priority scheduling.
